OVERVIEWAn exclusive high-end neighborhood located atop Lookout Mountain on the Georgia/Tennessee line is the backdrop for this beautiful 6200 square foot, three story southern
mansion. Old world charm is the norm here where protected historic and rustic structures abound with extraordinary views of the Tennessee River Valley below.
OBJECTIVE
To design and install an extremely low maintenance stream and waterfall system that naturally flows through the landscape to a large pond that can withstand the mischievous presence of a growing young boy and his dog. An extremely natural appearance is a must to wow the many guests attending a variety of frequent dinner parties and society gatherings.
OBSTACLES
A steeply sloped backyard with a mature stand of 200 foot tall white oaks surrounded by a historic rock wall and eight foot tall decorative fence will require that twelve boulders weighing in excess of six tons each, be hoisted up and over the tree tops and lowered down through the trees; by way of a large crane; to their final resting place. Logistical coordination with the community was a must as the very narrow one way road would cut off the entire neighborhood and surrounding civil war tourist points of interest.
OUTCOME
A cool, shade forest pond and cascade waterfall complete with moss and lichen encrusted boulders, ferns and a forty foot long stream make this water feature appear to have been here for ages. A state-of-the-art Savio pond filtration system with Skimmerfilters, ultra-violet sterilization and an electronic solenoid water level sensor ensures an extremely low maintenance existence for the busy homeowners.
